Taste of Virginia Results & Winners
June 19 @ 8:00 am - 5:00 pm
For the third year in a row, Capital Ale House helped to bring the Taste of Virginia festival (TOVA) to Innsbrook. TOVA was a once again one of a kind event with good food, delicious wine, craft beer, great music, and a grand fireworks finale! Unfortunately, the weather made a grand entrance into this year’s Taste of Virginia as well. Record-breaking rain closed nearby roads and, quite literally, dampened the spirits of those in attendance and others trying to get to the event. We started the event in brilliant sunshine and ended in our usual GRAND STYLE with an amazing GRAND FINALE OF FIREWORKS! All three bands, Soul Expressions, Main Street Station Band, and The Trongone Band performed with excellence to the attendees’ delight.
All those in attendance on June 2nd were winners, but several of the restaurants were given special recognition. Taking the premier prize, “Taste of Virginia”, as well as “Best Flavor Mashup” was Mezeh with the best Mediterranean cuisine around. Taking home “Le Chic Suite” (best booth) was Publix Super Markets, and winning “Virginia’s Sweetest” was Poor Georgie’s Bake Shop with their addicting key lime pie. The final award, “People’s Choice Award” was hard fought for and in the end Richmond Marriott took the gold. Congratulations to all the winners and thank you for voting for the People’s Choice Award!
Think someone else should have won? Show your support for them by visiting their restaurants when you’re out and about. In case you’re craving the delicious food from the festival, here is a list of the wonderful restaurants that helped to support this event: Continental Divide, Grapevine, Publix Super Markets, Kona Ice, Richmond Marriott Short Pump, Poor Georgie’s Bake Shop, and Two Kings Concessions.
For those who were unable to make Taste of Virginia, or left before the end, here’s what you missed. Heated corn hole competitions in front of the Capital Ale House booth, bounce house for the kids, wonderful music from Soul Expressions, Main Street Station, and The Trongone Band leading the count down to the best fireworks in town. Thank you to all those who graced this event with your presence and persevered through the weather.
A hearty thank you to our volunteers. Many people from our community came out and helped us put on this event, including folks from Innsbrook After Hours volunteers, Henrico Christmas Mother, and the Innsbrook Foundation. They came out and gave their time, talent and sweat equity to make sure attendees received a generous helping of extraordinary customer service. We are grateful for our volunteers who continually create great experiences for the people who attend the many events that are presented by the Innsbrook Foundation throughout the year.
