INNSBROOK
SPRING SOFTBALL LEAGUE – 2008

DATES:  May 12th
August 4th (these dates are tentative)

 

REGULAR SEASON:  All teams will play two 50-55 minute
games per night of play, more if make-ups are needed.  There will 2 leagues if
we get enough teams.  The leagues will play Monday/Tuesday and Monday/Thursday
nights at Pemberton
Elementary School.  You sign up for either Mon/Tues or Mon/Thurs
nights.  You don’t play 2 nights a week, but sometimes you may play on a Monday
and sometimes you may play on a Thursday in the Mon/Thurs league and the same
scenario goes for the Mon/Tues league.  

 

COMPETITION: The
league is a recreational and fun co-ed league. 
If you are looking for setting records, this is not the league for
you!  See the section on Multi-walled bats.

 

NON-RESIDENT OF HENRICO FEE: Please be aware that there is a $15 non-resident of Henrico
fee per player that must be paid for every non-Henrico resident on your roster.
This must be paid before that player can take the field.  These fees must be
paid no later than April 14th to the league commissioner when the
rosters are also due to the league commissioner.

 

INCLEMENT WEATHER:  Teams scheduled to play must report
to the field regardless of weather conditions or forecast.  Teams not ready for play at the scheduled
time will forfeit the game.  The postponement of play will be determined by the
umpire.  Rescheduled games will be determined based on umpire availability.  Make
sure you call the Henrico County Hotline.

 

TROPHIES:  Team trophies will be awarded to the
top 2 teams in each league.  

 

REGISTRATION DEADLINE:  WEDNESDAY, APRIL 16TH,
Teams accepted first-come, first-serve with money in hand to hold the
space.  Be aware that by the 9th
there may not be any space available in the league, so sign up ASAP.

 

 

TEAM ROSTER:  Due May 2nd.  Changes will
be accepted, but teams must notify the commissioner and submit the proper
paperwork for each player.  Each team must have at least 10 players on its
roster, games are played with 5 males and 5 females.  All players must be employees of a company at
Innsbrook or a spouse of such employee, or a resident of one of Innsbrook’s
neighborhoods.  “Significant Other” is
considered in the same category as a spouse.

 

EQUIPMENT:  The league will provide bases, a
pitcher’s mound and a new softball for each game, (depends on money
availability.)  Teams must provide their
own practice balls, bats and gloves. 
Teams are encouraged to purchase a catcher’s mask.

 

NO MULTI-WALLED BATS WILL BE ALLOWED.   “Only bats of 1 piece
construction will be allowed.  No multi-walled or multi-shelled bats
allowed.”
  Please observe and follow this rule.  The recreation committee is concerned about
safety first and foremost.  This is a recreational league and although some of
these bats types are allowed in Henrico county leagues, this league is prohibiting
these types of bats.  The League Commissioner may rule on a bat at any time,
whether it is in a game that is being observed or in a game that he is playing
in.

Arguing
with the commissioner about these bats or intentionally using these bat types
will result in suspension or expulsion from the league.

 

PRACTICE:  Call the Henrico County
Park and Rec Department
to obtain practice permits.

 

TRASH & ALCOHOL: You are expected to take
responsibility for your trash.  There are only a few trash cans on site.  Remember:  no alcoholic beverages on Henrico County’s
property.  Also, park in the designated
parking area, not alongside the field.

 

FORFEITS:  If your
team forfeits 2 nights during the season, your team will receive a warning.
Another forfeit will result in your team being removed from the league.  Only 8
players are needed to play a game.

 

RULES:  A player may appear on one roster
only per division.  A player may not play for more than one team in a division.
A team caught playing with an illegal player will forfeit those games in which
the illegal player appeared.

 

ASA co-ed
rules recognized by Henrico
County will be applied to
all games, with the following modifications/clarifications:

1.       Men and women players may play any
position on the field, with the exception of the pitcher/catcher, which must be
a male/female

tandem (male pitcher/female catcher
(or vice-versa)).

2.       Teams shall field no more than 5 men
or 5 women in the game.  No 6 men/4 women, 6 women/4 men.

3.       A team may play a game with 8
players, providing it’s 4 men/4women with the last two spots being automatic
outs.  

Additional players may be added at
any time during the game.

4.       Three extra men and women batters in
addition to the fielders may be added to the batting lineup for a total of 16
batters. 

5.       A 12 inch .44 COR ball will be used.

6.       No metal spikes are allowed.

7.       No multi-walled or multi-shelled bats will be allowed. There
is a list of what we consider illegal bats that will be sent out.

8.       A woman shall have the option of
taking a base on balls in lieu of hitting if the man receives a base on balls
and the man

will go to 2nd regardless
of what the woman chooses to do.

9.       No outfielder can throw out a woman
runner at first base on a ground ball.

 

 

 

The Innsbrook Foundation is not liable for any personal injuries or
damage to cars incurred while playing in the Innsbrook Softball League.

I fully understand that my participation in the Innsbrook
Softball League is of my own decision and that certain inherent dangers are
present in any program of this nature, which are beyond human control.  I, therefore, on behalf of my family,
(including but not limited to) wife/husband, children, parents, brothers,
sisters and all other persons who may have legal right to make claim, release
all liability and responsibility for any illness, injury, accidental death or
damage to personal property sustained during my participation in the Innsbrook
Softball League.  This release shall
include any and all officers, instructors, organizers, leaders, and persons
involved with the league including The Innsbrook Foundation.  This release shall
include any such injuries or accidental death occurring during such activities,
as well as, in transit to and from said activities.

 

I hereby authorize the Softball League, acting by and
through its directors, hosts, and agents to administer and/or seek medical aid
in the event of any accident, illness, or injury and release said program, its
sponsors, agents, directors, and instructors from any liability resulting from
the administering or seeking of such medical aid.

 

I do further authorize the Softball League and its agents to
photograph, televise, videotape or by any other means record my image or voice
while engaged in league play, for the purpose of instructional, promotional or
commercial use.
